Restaurant Helper Responsibilities

• Clear and Reset Tables: Promptly and discreetly clear tables of all dishes, glassware, and silverware after guests leave. Wipe down tables, chairs, and booths, and reset them perfectly with clean linens, napkins, and utensils for the next guests.
• Maintain Floor Presence: Continuously walk through the dining room to spot and attend to dirty tables.
• Beverage Service: Refill water glasses and provide non-alcoholic beverages like coffee or iced tea for guests.
• Storage: Put away all clean items in their proper, designated storage areas throughout the kitchen and service areas. This is a continuous duty.
• Assist Servers: Help servers by delivering condiments, extra napkins, or other small items to tables upon request.
• Floor Maintenance: Sweep and wet-mop kitchen floors multiple times during a shift to prevent slips and eliminate grease and debris. This is a constant task.
• General Cleanliness: Sweep up crumbs or debris from the floor around tables and ensure the overall tidiness of the dining room, including high chairs and booster seats.
• Restroom Maintenance: Clean and sanitize all public and staff restrooms regularly. This includes toilets, urinals, sinks, mirrors, and restocking soap, paper towels, and toilet paper.
• Dining Area Support: Empty trash bins from the dining area and clean up significant spills as needed to support serving staff.
• General Upkeep: Clean windows, mirrors, and other glass surfaces. Dust ledges and light fixtures.
• Deliver Food Orders: Act as the link between the kitchen and the dining room, delivering hot and cold food from the kitchen to the correct tables.
• Ensure Order Accuracy: Work with the expeditor or chef to verify that every plate on the ticket is correct and matches the order before it leaves the kitchen.
• Follow Safety Protocols: Always use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as rubber gloves, aprons, and non-slip shoes.
• Plate Presentation: Assist with final garnishing or wiping the edges of plates to ensure they look presentable.
• Basic Food Prep (as needed): Perform simple prep tasks such as washing and chopping vegetables, portioning sauces, making salads, or preparing desserts, depending on skill level and kitchen needs.
• Empty and clean wastebaskets and transport trash to designated disposal areas.
• Dish Area Organization: Scrape food from dirty plates and stack them properly for the dishwasher. Help sort and put away clean dishes, glassware, and silverware.

• Restocking: Ensure service stations are fully stocked with clean plates, glasses, cutlery, napkins, and other essentials.
• Waste Management: Take out the trash and recycling, and replace liners in all bins.
• Utility cleaners specifically handle the daily cleaning and maintenance of the galleys, or kitchens, to uphold health and sanitation standards.
