Job Description

We are seeking friendly, energetic, and customer-focused Waiters/Waitresses to join our service team. In this role, you will be the face of our restaurant, ensuring that every guest receives outstanding service from the moment they are seated until they leave. Your goal is to create a dining experience that encourages guests to return.

Waiters and Waitresses' Responsibilities

  • Opening & Preparation Duties .Attend pre-shift (line-up) meetings to learn about daily specials, menu changes, and 86'd items. Clean and stock your assigned service station.
  • Greeting & Seating: Greet guests warmly, promptly, and with a friendly demeanor upon their arrival.
  • Order Taking: Introduce yourself, announce your name, and provide a brief overview of the menu or service style. Knowledgeably answer questions about menu items, ingredients, allergens, and preparation methods.
  • Order Delivery & Table Maintenance: Serve food and beverages correctly and in a timely manner, ensuring the right guest receives the right order. Perform tasks like grinding pepper, filleting fish, or opening wine bottles tableside if required.
  • Payment & Departure: Present the check accurately and in a timely manner. Process payments (cash, credit, gift cards) correctly and securely.
  • Teamwork & Closing Duties . Clear, clean, and reset tables quickly and efficiently after guests depart. Perform side work duties such as rolling silverware, restocking supplies, and cleaning service areas.
  • Data Entry: Document every customer interaction thoroughly and accurately in the company system. This includes logging the reason for the call, actions taken, and any follow-up required.
  • Communication: Clearly interacting with guests and the team.
  • Multitasking & Pace: Juggling multiple tables and tasks efficiently.
  • Problem-Solving: Handling issues and complaints effectively.

Waiters and Waitresses' Requirements

  • Legal Eligibility to Work: Must be of legal age to serve alcohol (18 or 21, depending on local and state laws). Must have all documentation required for employment in the country/state.
  • Availability & Scheduling: Must have full availability for evenings, weekends, and major holidays, as these are the busiest times for restaurants.
  • Physical Stamina & Demands: Ability to stand, walk, and be on your feet for 6-8+ hours per shift. Ability to carry heavy trays, plates, and equipment (often 15-25 lbs / 7-11 kg).
  • Interpersonal & Communication Skills: A friendly, outgoing, and customer-focused personality. Clear and professional verbal communication skills.
  • Teamwork & Reliability:A strong team-player mentality; the ability to work cooperatively with servers, bussers, hosts, and kitchen staff. Proven reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
  • Previous Experience: Prior experience as a server, waitress, waiter, or in a high-volume customer service role (e.g., barista, retail, host) is highly valued.
  • Food Safety Knowledge: A valid Food Handler's Card or ServSafe Certification (or the ability to obtain one immediately after hiring).
  • Product & Menu Knowledge: Basic knowledge of food, cooking techniques, and common allergens. For upscale establishments: experience with wine, beer, and cocktail service.
  • Technical Skills: Experience with Point-of-Sale (POS) systems, such as Toast, Square, or Micros.
  • Upselling & Sales Ability: A natural ability to make recommendations and confidently upsell menu items, specials, and drinks.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: The ability to think on your feet, handle customer complaints gracefully, and resolve issues quickly.
  • Attention to Detail: Accuracy in order taking, payment processing, and following special requests.
  • Professional Appearance: Maintains a neat, clean, and professional appearance in accordance with the restaurant's dress code.
  • Self-Motivation & Discipline: Ability to work independently without direct supervision, manage time effectively, and stay focused and productive in a home environment.
  • Resilience & Stress Management: Ability to handle repetitive work, rejections (in sales), and difficult customers without becoming frustrated.
  • Problem-Solving: A natural inclination to diagnose issues and find effective solutions.
  • Age Requirement: Must be 18 years or older
